16.0½ h.h. Virtually black with good limbs, Samraan was t
rained by John Dunlop. He was a tough and admirably consistent race horse, having run at 3 to 6 years old and running 27 races. Top rated older stayer in Italy in 1997. An ideal National Hunt stallion. His fertility is excellent with all mares covered in 2005 tested in foal.

Summary: "Third place in the St. Leger was one of several placed efforts in pattern company for smart stayer Samraan.  A useful-looking horse, he’s a half-brother to the useful hurdler Salwan, winner of the Glenlivet Anniversary Hurdle at Aintree.  His early crops have been small and his oldest horses were four-year-olds in 2005".

Among his first crop is Surface to Air impressive winner at Huntingdon 17th April 2006 (third to Denman - Wincanton 17th Nov 2005), now in training with Chris Bealby along with the point-to-pointer Beau Sam. In the eventing world is Indian Spice 5th in Burghley Young Event Horse (2005) 4 year olds. The 4 year old Samraanian is in training with George Moore.
